On Sunday 18 October, we brought Pro Loco Archi’s support to Fossacesia Marina, where the PittaRosso Pink Parade 2026 took place as a local event within the nationwide distributed initiative. This local gathering connected our area with the national campaign supporting research into women’s cancers. We joined the many people who chose to take part, each bringing their own reason to support the cause. Around a thousand participants turned the Via Verde pink, giving strength to the event’s message and Fondazione Umberto Veronesi’s work.
For our association, supporting the initiative meant contributing resources, time and people. We took part as a sponsor and helped provide the morning entertainment, believing that the work of a Pro Loco can help an important cause reach more people.
From Friday’s broadcast to Sunday in Fossacesia Marina
Our contribution had been introduced on Friday 16 October at 7 pm, during an episode of “ledirettedellesette”. Joining Valentino Gentilezza as his guest, Tiziana De Bartolo presented the Pink Parade and its programme and invited listeners to take part.
That first radio conversation helped build anticipation for Sunday. In Fossacesia Marina, from 8 to 10 am, our contribution took the form of a morning edition of the programme, with music and space for the voices of organisers and participants. Valentino Gentilezza, our president, hosted and accompanied the morning’s activities. Alessandro, Toros DJ, also contributed music.
The people behind the organisation
Special thanks go to Tiziana De Bartolo and Enza Pomilio, both members of Pro Loco Archi and among the event’s organisers. Their involvement connected the work of this event with the life of our association. Through people and collaborations like these, we can play an active part in initiatives across our area.
At 10 am, the five-kilometre walk set off along the Via Verde, turning at Foce di Rocca San Giovanni. It gave families, friends and associations an opportunity to share a practical gesture in support of research.
We were also joined by Nicola De Laurentis, Mayor of Archi, whose regular presence at the Pink Parade reflects his participation in many other local initiatives. We thank him for sharing this day with us, showing support for the work of associations and the value of community participation.
Solidarity, remembrance and support
The day also featured “Dacci un taglio”, with Lory a Colori ETS and Carmelita Carpineto: a braid donated for an oncology wig. The event also honoured the memory of Darina.
For our cover, we chose a photograph that tells the story simply: a little girl and an adult wearing pink, holding hands on the Via Verde. Our player gathers another 21 moments, from preparations and entertainment to faces, the walk and the group photograph by the sea. These are the images we want to keep and share with those who were there and those who followed from afar.
Our thanks, and a continuing commitment
Thank you to the organisers, associations, volunteers and everyone who made this day possible. As Pro Loco Archi, we are glad to have played our part alongside those supporting research and people facing illness.
Research keeps moving. The meaning of the Pink Parade continues after the walk: in attention to prevention, support for scientific research and a willingness to be there again. That is the commitment we bring home from Fossacesia Marina.
